Noticing what is already there...

Updated: Jan 27

As another year draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the lessons learned and whether my intentions align with my choices. In 2025, the word playful took center stage in my life. This theme resonated not only in my sessions but also in the workshops I attended. I sought inspiration from passionate physical education teachers who aim to transform our busy, tired, and distracted society.

At this point in my career, I notice a trend toward narrow perspectives in the industry. There’s a heavy emphasis on interior design, machines, and props, often idolizing historical narratives as the only authentic path. This fixation can make it seem like being an authority figure is the ultimate goal. Terms like Pilates, Movement, and Yoga are often used interchangeably, but they carry diverse meanings. The pressure for quick self-improvement, coupled with a diminishing ability to research, complicates my profession. Even with technological advances like AI, the need for people to "feel that they did something" often overshadows genuine interest in understanding the process.

The Power of Connection

I’ve come to realize that fostering habits that promote clear intentions and value human relationships attracts the right people. This revelation has liberated me from the pressure of chasing large numbers in sessions or courses. I have reached a moment of acceptance where less truly is more. My focus has shifted from making students dependent on my services to encouraging them to explore valuable insights about themselves.

A Day in My Life

Let me share a glimpse into my typical workday, highlighting my priorities and the connections I cherish.

7:00 AM - The Invisible Acts of Love and Kindness

I start my day with breakfast alongside my husband. He wakes up a bit earlier to prepare coffee and yogurt for us while I get ready. We catch up on the news and discuss our sleep and plans for the day. Before I leave, I take ten minutes to meditate, centering myself for the day ahead.

8:00 AM - Nurturing Mutual Trust

On my way to the studio, the tram takes an unexpected detour, causing me to arrive three minutes late. Thankfully, thanks to the trust built through direct communication, a dear student opens the studio early for me. Together, we prepare the space without any rush or stress, allowing us to start our session calmly.

9:00 AM - A Playful Mindset

I lead a strength and conditioning class using gymnastic rings. This session is not just about physical exertion; it’s about creativity and fun. With the support of Movement Practice Vienna's community, we create an environment where everyone can rediscover the joy of movement through a curious mindset.

10:15 AM - Philosophizing About Life

After class, we often indulge in what starts as a "quick coffee" but frequently extends to an hour of sharing stories, ideas, and experiences. This time allows us to learn from diverse perspectives and backgrounds, enriching our understanding of the world.

12:00 PM - Finding Order in Randomness

After running errands, I return home for lunch and some downtime before my next class. I dedicate at least 45 minutes to my own practice, reflecting on the upcoming sessions while also managing household chores and responding to messages.

4:00 PM - Variation and Quick Adaptation

I connect with a client for a 30-minute one-on-one session via Zoom. We start by checking in on her energy levels, a practice I initiated in 2022. Despite the challenges of sickness, work schedules, and holidays, we maintain our connection, rescheduling as needed. We even exchange postcards from our travels, cherishing our commitment to stay in touch.

5:00 PM - A Space to Share My Perspective

I host a class at Panda Atelier, a space I’ve chosen to gather individuals interested in exploring movement through my lens. These women have begun to notice positive changes in themselves through my sessions. The class balances accessibility and personal attention, creating an opportunity for participants to learn and unlearn what their bodies and minds can achieve through both discomfort and enjoyment.

6:30 PM - Slowing Down and Resting Deeply

As the day winds down, I prepare dinner, often experimenting with recipes reminiscent of my time in Mexico. I call my parents or send them a picture of my meal. When my husband returns home, we share a little dance while cooking to a catchy tune. After discussing our day, we unwind by watching a series or reading together before drifting off to sleep.

Cultivating Meaningful Relationships

Ultimately, the quality and depth of conversations I have with students, friends, and loved ones are my most valuable treasures. In a world filled with distractions, taking the time to interact in person has become increasingly important. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has spent time with me, whether it was just an hour or an entire year. I hope you, too, notice those invisible treasures in your daily life. I look forward to discovering which word will dominate my journey in 2026.
